Happy 85th Anniversary, Renaissance Mayflower
1925--It was a time of prohibition, the New Yorker magazine published its first issue, the first synchronized transmission of pictures and sound was achieved, F. Scott Fitzgerald published The Great Gatsby and The Mayflower, later labeled Washington, DC's "Second Best Address" by President Harry Truman, opens its doors. Today, The Renaissance Mayflower Hotel is the Grand Dame of the Nation's Capital. Its Grand Ballroom that has served as the backdrop for every Presidential Inaugural Ball from Coolidge through Reagan. On February 18th, 2010, this iconic DC landmark celebrates its 85th anniversary—kicking off a year- long celebration.
