TownePlace Suites Spreads Warmth and Cheer with Annual Handmade Blanket Donation
TownePlace Suites® by Marriott is giving the gift of warmth to children who need a little extra comfort. Continuing the success of its real giving program, the TownePlace Suites brand donated more than 2,000 fleece blankets to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals; providing a sense of security, love, and comfort to young patients this holiday season.
In line with the TownePlace Suites brand connection with the local community, the real giving program is designed to benefit local Children’s Miracle Network hospitals across the United States and Canada. Through volunteer service and donation opportunities, the national “real giving” program engages TownePlace Suites service team members, owners, franchisees and customers to work together with local businesses and volunteers, establish partnerships with local hospitals, and benefit people in their local communities.
“Our team members are the reason for the success of the real giving program.” said Loren Nalewanski, Vice President, Brand Management, TownePlace Suites and Marriott Executive Apartments. “This program builds positive relationships with Children's Hospitals nearest our hotels...and it's a great way for our brand to give back to the community. The spirit of giving is part of who we are at TownePlace Suites and we understand the importance of comfort when you’re away from home.”
During the program’s inaugural year, the TownePlace Suites brand donated more than 1,000 blankets to children in hospitals across the country. This year, the brand is celebrating its continued commitment to the real giving program by setting a goal of more than 2,000 blankets. In Bethesda, Maryland, the brand invited associates at Marriott International Headquarters to help make 300 blankets to donate to Children’s National Medical Center. Around the country, hotels raised money to pay for blanket materials. They organized blanket-making events, and delivered the blankets to children in local hospitals.
Examples include:
- Dallas DeSoto made over 500 blankets - The entire Dallas/DeSoto community came together to help make blankets this year. What a great program to pull locals, guests and service team members together.
- Las Vegas Henderson made 342 blankets. It was thru the efforts of the Campbell Lodging team, family and friends at TPS and our sister property SHS, that we were able to make this initiative so successful.
- Albuquerque made 191 blankets (check out their facebook page!)
Sage Hospitality and Denver hotels made 151 blankets. On December 9th, over twenty volunteers from the TownePlace Suites portfolio, Residence Inn Denver City Center, Holiday Inn Stapleton, the JW Marriott, the Global Office and the Oxford Hotel joined forces to make 151 no-sew fleece blankets in support of the real giving national campaign of TownePlace Suites.
The real giving program aligns with Marriott International’s focus on vitality of children as part of its five signature issues represented by the letters in “SERVE” – Shelter and Food, Environment, Readiness for Hotel Careers, Vitality of Children, and Embracing Global Diversity and Inclusion. The program also supports Marriott’s 29-year relationship with Children’s Miracle Network. Over that time, Marriott has raised more than $66 million to help children needing hospitalization in our local communities.
