Bethesda, Md., - Marriott International, Inc., (NYSE:MAR) has been recognized by the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) as one of the Top 50 Companies For Executive Women in 2013. Marriott was ranked in the top 10 on this prestigious list, which recognizes organizations whose policies and practices encourage the advancement of women.
Around the world, women hold many powerful jobs at Marriott from president of a major operating division to global leader of sales and revenue management, as well as responsibility for some of the company’s most profitable hotels. In addition, two of Marriott’s board members are women.
Marriott was recognized for being the first in the industry to debut a formal diversity and inclusion program, as well as a leadership development initiative specifically for women. It was also noted that the percentage of women corporate executives at Marriott International has increased 80% since 2002.

Methodology: The 2013 NAFE Top 50 Companies application includes more than 200 questions on female representation at all levels, but especially the corporate officer and profit-and-loss leadership ranks. The application also tracks access and usage of programs and policies that promote the advancement of women, as well as the training and accountability of managers in relation to the number of women who advance. To be considered, companies must have a minimum of two women on their boards of directors as well as at least 1000 employees in the U.S.
