Marriott Aces FORTUNE’s Most Admired List Again
Bethesda, Md., - Marriott International, Inc. has been recognized for the 13th time as the World’s Most Admired Lodging Company by FORTUNE. The company placed 36 among the top 50 companies across the globe, and was also the most admired company in its headquarters region that includes the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. The list, recognized as the corporate reputation scorecard, will appear in the March 18 issue of FORTUNE, available on newsstands now and at www.fortune.com.

“It’s wonderful to be recognized by FORTUNE magazine for our business model, world class hotel brands and strong leadership team,” said Carl Berquist, executive vice president and CFO for Marriott International. He added, “This recognition is also the result of a lot of hard work by our thousands of dedicated associates who believe in Marriott’s core values and are proud to help our guests see the world.”
Marriott has long been recognized by several prominent publications for its social responsibility and sustainability successes by global organizations such as Ethisphere Institute, FTSE4Good and Climate Counts. The Most Admired list is the definitive report card on corporate reputations. The Hay Group facilitates the survey, starting with approximately 1,400 companies across the globe. To create the 57 industry lists, Hay asked executives, directors, and analysts to rate companies in their industry on nine criteria, from investment value to social responsibility. A company's score must rank in the top half of its industry survey to be listed.
To arrive at the top 50 Most Admired Companies overall, the Hay Group asked the 3,800 respondents to select the 10 companies they admired most, from a list made up of the companies that ranked in the top 25 percent in last year's survey, plus those that finished in the top 20 percent of their industry. Anyone could vote for any company in any industry, which is why some results may seem anomalous.
