What Makes Someone Amazing?
A recent survey conducted by Fairfield Inn & Suites found that an overwhelming majority of Americans (93 percent) equate being an amazing person with being kind and caring, and 81 percent (84 percent for Millennials) believe amazing people have work/life balance. Other highly ranked characteristics are:
- Positivity: 87 percent
- Generosity: 78 percent
- Creativity: 78 percent
- Career-driven/successful at work: 43 percent
Who Helps Americans Stay Amazing?
National Amazing Month is a celebration of everyone whose actions help others be their best. The survey revealed that 87 percent of Americans believe the people you surround yourself with make an impact on your balance.
The most important people in their lives who help them stay amazing include:
- Spouse/Significant Other: 69 percent
- Friends: 68 percent
- Parents: 53 percent
- Pets: 48 percent
- Coworkers: 32 percent
- Children: 30 percent
Americans also derive support from unexpected sources including random acts of kindness or an unexpected smile from a stranger (23 percent); and interestingly, men are more likely than women to say that children are instrumental in helping them maintain balance in their life (39 percent vs. 28 percent)
Keeping Balance on the Road is Hard for Business Travelers
For many people, including business travelers, being amazing means being able to stick to a productive routine, even on the road. While 50 percent of Americans claim to lead a balanced life, only 35 percent of adults feel their life is balanced while traveling. Other challenges with business travel include:
- Eating less healthy: 59 percent
- Working out less: 57 percent
- Experiencing more stress: 49 percent
- Sleeping less: 47 percent
