The New Year Ushers A New, Show-Stopping Retreat for Quebec: Renaissance Montreal Opens

Many consider arts the lifeblood of Montreal, named a UNESCO City of Design for its commitment to captivating style. No Montreal retreat better embodies that passion than the Renaissance Montreal, which today opened its doors as the city’s most anticipated new hotel. Nestled in the heart of downtown, the Renaissance debut reveals an eclectic mix of art deco architecture, sophisticated yet unconventional interior styling, and best-in-class service. The result is a captivating hotel that speaks to the modern traveler.

Renaissance Montreal Downtown

“Renaissance Montreal is ripe for discovery,” said Ian Marceau, general manager of Renaissance Montreal. He continued, “Every corner of this gorgeous hotel evokes the vibrancy of our great city. We believe it represents the future of hospitality and are thrilled to bring a hotel of this caliber and creativity to Montreal.”

Transformed for Renaissance by Groupe Daca and managed by Urgo Hotels Canada, the 142-room Renaissance Montreal captures the spirit of Wanderlust, the brand’s new global design philosophy reflecting a contemporary transformation to appeal to the next gen business traveler who seeks adventure with every business trip. Its lobby defines modernity, with unexpected surprises like street art by local artist, Alexandre Veilleux, live DJ entertainment, and tempting cocktail creations by master mixologist Lawrence Piccard. Taste buds are also wowed at East, where contemporary Pan-Asian cuisine features exotic flavors and beautiful plate presentation. Downtown Montreal’s only rooftop terrace will be the place to see and be seen. The outdoor setting on the 12 th floor is heated and covered, offering panoramic views, a full bar, bistro kitchen and stainless steel plunge pool.

The rooftop will be open for special occasions leading into spring, including Renaissance Montreal’s “ Mixodiology” event for La Nuit Blanche on Feb. 27, 2016. This night of revelry is a marquee celebration during the world-famous Montreal en Lumiere festival, held Feb. 18-March 5, 2016. The hotel fete’s name is inspired by the marriage of mixology and music that will transport guests around the world. Guests and visitors will sample a series of finely crafted cocktails, each inspired by a different corner of the globe, while a DJ spins music that weaves in beats reflective of each drink’s origin. It will be a unique sensory experience of rhythm and taste.

"The Renaissance Hotels brand is going through its own global ‘renaissance’ to meet the needs of the diverse, creative class of the next generation,” said Toni Stoeckl, vice president of Lifestyle Brands for Marriott International. "The contemporary Wanderlust design, unique programming and prime location of Renaissance Montreal will help usher in this new era for the brand, which is revolutionizing the lifestyle hotel experience for today’s business traveler."

Renaissance Montreal’s downtown location at the corner of Cathcart Street and Robert-Bourassa Boulevard makes it a natural starting point to explore Montreal.
