Courtyard by Marriott Opens First Hotel in Jamaica

Kingston, Jamaica – November, 2015: The Courtyard by Marriott Kingston, Jamaica is now open and ready to welcome business and leisure guests from all over the world in one of the most sought after and beautiful destinations in the Caribbean. The hotel is centrally located in New Kingston, the business mecca of the city.

The property has a practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions, allowing it to seek a L.E.E.D Silver Certification. This building will be 30% more energy-efficient than a standard building with a 16% reduction in water consumption, a 30% use of regional materials and will produce 5% of its energy on-site through solar panels.

The 129-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel, scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2015, will be located 19km from the Norman Manley International Airport and close to the city’s best dining and shopping.

The Ritz-Carlton Set to Debut in Mexico City in 2019

MEXICO CITY, D.F., October 14, 2015 – The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. today announced plans to open its first hotel in Mexico City in 2019. Upon completion, the 153-room Ritz-Carlton, Mexico City will operate under a long term management agreement with Thor Urbana Capital and Heldan Hotels & Resorts. The hotel marks a significant milestone for Ritz-Carlton development in the Caribbean and Latin America, representing its entrée into one of the region’s most prominent capital cities.  

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Thor Urbana Capital and Heldan Hotels & Resorts to expand our presence in the Caribbean and Latin America, particularly in Mexico City - an epicenter of commerce and culture,” said Herve Humler, president and chief operations officer for The Ritz-Carlton. “Mexico remains one of the largest and most important international markets for our company, and we are confident that our legendary Ritz-Carlton service and culture is a perfect match for this vibrant, exciting destination.”

The hotel will be part of the Chapultepec Uno mixed use project, prominently located at the intersection of Avenida Reforma and Circuito Interior in the heart of the city’s financial center. Once completed, the stunning structure will include 58 floors and 1.1 million square feet of space, rendering it one of the tallest buildings in the city. KMD Architects and Taller GLOBAL are leading the design and architectural efforts for the project.

The Ritz-Carlton, Mexico City will occupy floors 36-47 of the building, featuring unobstructed views of Chapultepec Park. The hotel will include signature Ritz-Carlton luxury services and amenities including a Club Lounge and spa.

Marriott Plans to Open 60 New Hotels in the Caribbean and Latin America by 2018

“The northern part of our region is enjoying strong performance while the southern is faced with an economic slowdown, caused largely by the downfall of commodity prices and consequent devaluation;” said Laurent de Kousemaeker, Chief Development Officer of the Caribbean and Latin America for Marriott, “Notwithstanding, there remains a strong opportunity for quality brand experiences in the sector, and savvy investors with a long-term perspective are taking advantage of the reduced price of assets, land and construction to acquire, develop and brand hotels.”

Marriott has 93 hotels open today and more than 60 hotels under development in the Caribbean and Latin America, including 11 new hotels across 6 cities in Brazil.  Marriott has plans to invest approximately $400 million Brazilian Reais (U.S. $100 million) in Brazil to launch 4 of its modern essential brands: Courtyard by Marriott, Residence Inn by Marriott and Fairfield Inn by Marriott and AC by Marriott.  Seven of these eleven planned hotels are already under construction, which will be owned by Marriott or Brazilian partners.  Over time, Marriott expects to sell its owned hotel assets, retaining long term management agreements.

Bogota, Colombia, September 21, 2015 - Marriott International, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAR) announced the opening of the new 144-room Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Bogota, known as Colombia’s largest financial, political, and cultural center, also known as one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in South America. The hotel is located on the prestigious Avenida El Dorado, making it the closest hotel to the recently inaugurated new terminal at El Dorado International Airport, and is part of a mixed-use complex which includes prime office and retail space.

Marriott Caribbean & Latin America Resorts Launches Fit In Paradise Partnership With Sarah Fit

~ YouTube Personality Offers Exclusive Tips for Staying Healthy on Vacation ~

 

Fit in paradiseNEW YORK – Today, Marriott Caribbean & Latin America Resorts announces its new Fit in Paradise initiative with YouTube fitness personality and blogger Sarah Dussault – also known as Sarah Fit. Marriott Caribbean & Latin America Resorts has partnered with Sarah Fit, one of YouTube’s most-viewed fitness gurus with over 200,000 subscribers, to show viewers and guests how easy it is to stay healthy and active while visiting any of the Collection’s eight resorts.

 

As part of the initiative, Sarah Fit is visiting each of the Collection’s resorts, where she is filming a series of workout and lifestyle videos which will be rolled out across her social media channels, as well as those of Marriott Caribbean & Latin America Resorts. These videos will feature Sarah Fit engaging in a specific workout set amidst the backdrop of each resort.

 

In addition to workouts, she is also producing videos that showcase the resorts themselves, as well as their local destinations. Viewers will be able to follow along with Sarah’s adventures as she navigates her favorite activities and experiences at each resort.  

 

Based on her experiences, she is also developing property-specific fitness and wellness tip sheets, highlighting the coolest ideas to stay active and the most delicious ways to eat healthy at each destination. Examples include experiencing the juice and kombucha bar at Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort or taking a SUP Yoga class at Frenchman’s Reef & Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort. The tip sheets are tailored to each resort and will be available in the hotel rooms to allow guests to capitalize on her advice during their stay.

 

To help travelers enjoy both healthy and flavorful meals while on the road, Sarah Fit is creating menu recommendations highlighted at a designated restaurant in each resort, in addition to crafting a signature Sarah Fit cocktail alongside property mixologists. Sarah Fit’s fitness tips, signature drink and menu choices will be available at the resorts throughout the year.
