Marriott Completes Sale of Courtyard by Marriott Paris Arcueil

(NASDAQ:MAR) today announced it has completed the sale of the Courtyard by Marriott Paris Arcueil. The 170 room hotel, located just outside Paris, France, opened in 2011 as part of a large mixed use economic redevelopment program in the Porte d’Arcueil business district.   

Marriott received approximately $28 million in net proceeds and retains a long term management agreement for the property.

Courtyard by Marriott Partners with National Academy Foundation to Launch Success for Youth Program

Courtyard  by Marriott and NAFBethesda, Md., March 2, 2015 – Courtyard by Marriott is excited to announce a national partnership with National Academy Foundation (NAF) launching its Success for Youth program that activates its commitment made to the Clinton Global Initiative, that promises to provide 30,000 volunteer hours and engage with 10,000 students in three years.  The announcement was made this week at the Courtyard by Marriott bi-annual General Managers Conference, in Washington, D.C.  where over 200 NAF students conducted informational interviews with 800 general managers who were in attendance.  The Success for Youth program will engage Courtyard hotels across the country with NAF students through a series of work-based learning activities. This partnership presents tremendous opportunities for NAF students to receive hands-on experience and mentorship from leaders in the hospitality industry.

The program has been piloted with six NAF academies in Washington, DC, Charlotte, NC and Seattle, Washington, and included worksite tours and job shadowing. This partnership has the potential to expand to over 500 NAF academies and nearly 900 Courtyard properties.

Courtyard Marks 1,000th Hotel Milestone With Global Celebrations And 50 Million Marriott Rewards Points

‘The Itch List’ Wins 1 Million Rupees in Courtyard by Marriott’s Young Entrepreneur Challenge

Campaign SiteMumbai, December 1, 2014 - Courtyard by Marriott’s innovative campaign ‘The Elevator Pitch’, today announced Mumbai-based Ms. Smriti Modi as the grand prize winner for her entry ‘The Itch List’ by Ms. Smriti Modi will receive 1 million rupees to take her business idea to the next level.

Guatemala City Adds a New Courtyard by Marriott Hotel

Guatemala City, Guatemala – November 19, 2014: Marriott International announced today plans to open the first Courtyard by Marriott brand hotel in the bustling Guatemala City. The hotel project was signed with Grupo Azur, a family owned company that invests in real estate, hospitality and restaurants.   

The 147-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel, scheduled to open in 2016, will be located in the middle of Guatemala City’s Zona 10, also known as Zona Viva, an area known for leisure and business travel.

“The Courtyard by Marriott brand was a perfect fit for this hotel and, combined with Marriott’s backbone and sales engine, we are confident that the hotel will be highly successful and play a large role in the continued emergence of city of Guatemala City,” said Manuel Arzu, of Grupo Azur, and the leading architect behind the design of the hotel.

Courtyard by Marriott Arrives in Brazil

Recife, Brazil - November 14, 2014 – The 162-room Courtyard by Marriott Recife has officially opened its doors in the beautiful city of Recife in the northeastern state of Pernambuco, Brazil. The hotel is only a short walk to the beach and has convenient access to the city’s best restaurants, shopping and cultural attractions.

“The Courtyard brand is expanding across the world at a rapid pace and we’re thrilled to introduce this innovative brand to Brazil,” said Craig S. Courtyard by Marriott Announces Expansion of Brand in Scotland With New Edinburgh Hotel

London, UK - October 28, 2014 – Following the launch of Courtyard by Marriott’s new European design concept at Courtyard Aberdeen Airport Hotel last year, Marriott International, Inc. has announced plans to open a second Courtyard branded hotel in Scotland in early 2016. Located in the centre of Edinburgh, Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh Hotel will offer business and leisure travellers a refreshing hotel experience with contemporary and efficient design to ensure convenience and productivity throughout the entire guest stay.

The hotel will occupy a listed building comprised of three adjoining Georgian townhouses, one of which was home to Robert Stevenson, a famous Scottish civil engineer and the grandfather of Robert Louis Stevenson, the author of the 1881 novel “Treasure Island”. This historic building and its impressive façade will finally be restored after many years of standing empty. Behind this will sit a new building to accommodate the rest of the hotel.

The hotel’s 240 comfortable and stylish guest rooms will feature an energising Mediterranean colour palette, locally inspired furnishings and multiple, accessible power outlets making plugging in easy.  Guests will be able to enjoy facilities including an all-day Bistro Restaurant, fitness centre and a 49 square foot multi-functional meeting room with the latest technology. Free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel will ensure that guests can stay connected whilst working and relaxing in any of the hotel’s flexible open-plan public spaces.
