Courtyard by Marriott Brings Best Game Face To The Largest Gaming Conference In North America, PAX Prime

Bethesda, Md., August 28, 2015 – Courtyard is once again on the road, this time stopping at PAX Prime, the largest gaming festival in North America, where fans can experience the latest games and meet gaming’s hottest stars. Bringing its A-game as the Official Hotel of PAX Prime, the brand’s traveling mobile pod – Courtyard @ PAX Powerplay will offer attendees exclusive experiences they’ll never forget.

Courtyard will host an exclusive PAX launch party, to kick-off the nonstop gaming fun, filled with appearances by the industry’s best gamers, music, food and drinks -- plus professional hand massages -- in preparation for the long hard days of gaming ahead.

Courtyard by Marriott Belgrade City Center to Open in September 2015

Courtyard by Marriott BelgradeLondon – 18 August 2015 - Marriott International’s Courtyard by Marriott brand has announced that its first hotel in Serbia, the Courtyard Belgrade City Center, will open on 7 September 2015. The hotel, which showcases the brand’s new European design, is dynamic and modern with a striking glass façade that contrasts against the historic city center backdrop. The opening will mark Courtyard’s entry into its 42nd country, as the brand continues to rapidly expand globally.

Situated in the heart of the city in Republic Square, a short walk from the shopping and restaurants of Knez Mihailova and the cobbled streets of Belgrade’s Bohemian Quarter, the Courtyard Belgrade is easily accessible for international visitors, just a 20 minute drive from Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla Airport.

The 114-room property is comprised of two Studio rooms and 112 Standard rooms, all of which have 42-inch Smart LED TV and complimentary Wifi. The Courtyard Belgrade City Center will meet the needs of both business and leisure travellers with convenient services including one meeting room, a 24 hour market for refreshments, a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, and a fitness center.

Courtyard by Marriott Makes its Chilean Debut With the Opening of Courtyard by Marriott Santiago Las Condes

Santiago, Chile – July 30, 2015: Marriott International, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAR) announced the opening of the new 205-room Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Santiago, Chile. The hotel is situated immediately adjacent to the existing 280-room Santiago Marriott in the Las Condes business district filled with restaurants, bars and shops, the Courtyard will offer easy access to all of Santiago including the renowned Mall Parque Arauco and Araucano Park, located a few steps away from the hotel and some of the best views of the Andes Mountains.

Courtyard by Marriott Spotlights Fresh European Design at New Hotels in Poland and The Netherlands

Courtyard GdyniaLondon – 10 June 2015 - Marriott International’s Courtyard by Marriott brand has opened two new properties in Europe; Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Gdynia, Poland. Both properties will operate under a franchise agreement with Scandinavian Hospitality Management and will showcase the brand’s new European design, which focuses on blending technology and style.  

To meet the needs of business travellers, the European Courtyard Hotel design combines business functionality with a spacious, uncluttered style. Travellers can enjoy appealing and convenient food and drink options 24 hours a day and the dynamic lobby spaces feature free Wifi, flexible seating and smart, inspiring interior design that welcomes and invigorates guests.  An interactive GoBoard® screen provides up to the minute news, weather and local information so guests are always in touch.

Courtyard Amsterdam Arena Atlas is in the business district Amsterdam Zuidoost, just 13 minutes train journey from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and 10 minutes on the metro from the city centre. It is also close to some of the city’s largest venues, including Amsterdam RAI, Amsterdam ArenA and Heineken Music Hall.

The 175-room property comprises 21 Premium and 154 Standard rooms, all of which have 42-inch Smart LED TV and complimentary Wifi. Six meeting rooms have latest AV, high speed Wifi access and natural light. The largest meeting room has capacity for 140 guests.

Courtyard by Marriott Announces Seventh Hotel for the Caribbean: The Courtyard by Marriott Kingston, Jamaica

Kingston, Jamaica – May 29, 2015: Marriott International (NASDQ:MAR) announced plans to open the first Courtyard by Marriott brand hotel in Kingston, the capital city of Jamaica. The project is being developed by Caribe Hospitality Jamaica.

The property has a practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions, allowing it to seek a LEED Silver Certification. This building will be 30% more energy-efficient than a standard building with a 16% reduction in water consumption, a 30% use of regional materials and will produce 5% of its energy on-site through solar panels.

The 129-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel, scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2015, will be located 19km from the Norman Manley International Airport and close to the city’s best dining and shopping.

The Courtyard by Marriott Brand Continues its Caribbean Expansion

Miami, Fla., April 14, 2015 - Marriott International (NASDAQ: MAR) announced today plans to open the first Courtyard by Marriott brand hotel in Curaçao in the city of Willemstad. The project will be developed by CMC Real Estate N.V.

Marriott Completes Sale of Courtyard by Marriott Paris Arcueil

(NASDAQ:MAR) today announced it has completed the sale of the Courtyard by Marriott Paris Arcueil. The 170 room hotel, located just outside Paris, France, opened in 2011 as part of a large mixed use economic redevelopment program in the Porte d’Arcueil business district.   

Marriott received approximately $28 million in net proceeds and retains a long term management agreement for the property.

Courtyard by Marriott Partners with National Academy Foundation to Launch Success for Youth Program

Courtyard  by Marriott and NAFBethesda, Md., March 2, 2015 – Courtyard by Marriott is excited to announce a national partnership with National Academy Foundation (NAF) launching its Success for Youth program that activates its commitment made to the Clinton Global Initiative, that promises to provide 30,000 volunteer hours and engage with 10,000 students in three years.  The announcement was made this week at the Courtyard by Marriott bi-annual General Managers Conference, in Washington, D.C.  where over 200 NAF students conducted informational interviews with 800 general managers who were in attendance.  The Success for Youth program will engage Courtyard hotels across the country with NAF students through a series of work-based learning activities. This partnership presents tremendous opportunities for NAF students to receive hands-on experience and mentorship from leaders in the hospitality industry.

The program has been piloted with six NAF academies in Washington, DC, Charlotte, NC and Seattle, Washington, and included worksite tours and job shadowing. This partnership has the potential to expand to over 500 NAF academies and nearly 900 Courtyard properties.

For more than 30 years, NAF has refined a proven model that provides young people access to industry-specific curricula, work-based learning experiences, and relationships with business professionals.  NAF academies focus on one of five career themes: finance, hospitality & tourism, information technology, engineering, and health sciences. Over 5,000 business professionals volunteer in classrooms, act as mentors, engage NAF students in paid internships, and serve on local advisory boards. During the 2014-15 school year nearly 82,000 students attended 667 NAF academies across 38 states, including D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In 2014, NAF academies reported 97% of seniors graduated.

Courtyard Marks 1,000th Hotel Milestone With Global Celebrations And 50 Million Marriott Rewards Points

The pinnacle of the festivities will be on March 31 when the Courtyard Walla Walla will be designated as the 1,000th hotel. On that same day, all Marriott Rewards guests checking into any Courtyard worldwide will receive 1,000 points as the brand’s milestone gift, an estimated 50 million points.
