We Have a 'Blank Canvas' Ready For You!

Bethesda, Md., September 3, 2014 – Moxy Hotels, a new lifestyle, design-led economy hotel brand that debuted this week in Milan, is on the hunt for tomorrow’s most exciting visual artist. Moxy is looking for innovative painters, illustrators and graffiti artists to submit their own unique creations in the exclusive Moxy Blank Canvas challenge to be selected as the ‘Artist in Residence’ at the new Moxy Milan.  They will also be given their own Moxy Blank Canvas studio, where they will be able to create custom artwork for the Moxy Milan and future Moxy Hotels.  The challenge starts today – visit MoxyHotels.com/BlankCanvas to learn more and participate.

The grand finale of the judging process will see three final candidates create a piece of artwork in front of a live audience of media, hotel guests, art enthusiasts and the Milanese social scene on 30 October in Milan celebrating the official launch of the new Moxy Milan.

The Blank Canvas challenge— how to enter
First Round

Artists will be asked to submit their work by 3 October via MoxyHotels.com/BlankCanvas for review by a panel of judges including Ramesh Jackson of Moxy Hotels, a participant from Red Bull and CEO and co-founder of GlobalStreetArt.com, Lee Bofkin. Candidates are encouraged to create artwork that represents both the vibrancy of Milan and the Moxy Hotels travel experience – spirited, fun and thoughtful.

Second Round 
The three selected finalists will then be invited to the unveiling celebration of the Moxy Milan Hotel on 30 October 2014 for the Blank Canvas live art experience. The artists will be presented with a blank canvas, art supplies and a live audience and will be asked to create a second piece in just one hour. The winner, selected by the media, art connoisseurs and Moxy Hotel guests in attendance, will be appointed as the official ‘Moxy Artist in Residence’ and awardedwith their own studio at the next Moxy Hotel, along with a prize of US$3,000. Their original artwork from the first stage of the competition will also be displayed in the Moxy Milan Living Room for guests to enjoy.

The Moxy Milan sets the stage for the global introduction of Moxy Hotels, with new openings planned for Munich, Frankfurt, Berlin, Oslo, Aberdeen and London.

Ramesh Jackson
Ramesh Jackson is the Vice President & Global Brand Manager for Moxy Hotels. Ramesh has had an exciting career in hospitality filled with unique and varied assignments that have taken him all over the world, including to the likes India, Southeast Asia, Brazil, China, Europe and Australia. A true hotel and travel expert, he also believes in giving back to the communities in which he’s lived and worked and is involved in numerous social and charitable organizations. Ramesh is a passionate family man who loves traveling the globe with his wife and their two young daughters.

Red Bull
For several years, Red Bull has been working with unique and talented artists as part of their Red Bull Curates Project.  Red Bull Curates is a collaboration between artists and venues giving talented artists a platform to showcase their work turning traditional venues into a creative environment.  Their challenge is to transform a blank canvas-wrapped Red Bull cooler into an inspired work of art resulting in unique installations throughout the world and their art a permanent feature.

Lee Bofkin
Lee Bofkin is the CEO and co-founder of GlobalStreetArt.com, an artist-led platform whose mission is to build a permanent, museum dedicated to street art and graffiti - both online and in bricks and mortar. Through their Walls Project, GSA have organised over 600 legal street art murals in London since 2012. Lee is a former UK break-dancer and has a PhD in math and evolution.

GUIDELINES 
HOW MOXY MILAN WILL SELECT
Moxy Milan together with the panel of judges will select from all qualified submissions. A qualified submission is one that meets all the Terms & Conditions, Guidelines and Official Rules.

The community can support their favourite submissions through social voting via Facebook and Twitter. The artist with the highest number of votes will be chosen as the Community Choice.

CREATIVE INVITE GUIDELINES 

  • This opportunity is open to artists globally
  • Artists should retain their original artwork files (in 300dpi), but designs must be submitted in JPEG or PNG; max size 5MB.
  • All entries must be original artwork (meaning not using third-party, pre-existing copyright materials). Photographs will not be accepted.
  • Artists must join Talenthouse using an active email address in order to ensure they can be contacted should they be selected.
  • Artists must include a description about their submission and about themselves.
  • Artists must have an up-to-date Talenthouse profile.
  • The host may use the work of the selected artist as set out within the Creative Invite official rules. The host may use all submitted works in context of this Creative Invite. All artists retain ownership of their work unless specially requested by the host to sign over, the specific terms of which can be agreed between the host and the artist.
  • All submissions will feature as part of a global gallery with public voting on Facebook and Twitter.

The crew - including singers, dancers, martial artists, photographers, DJ’s and musicians – gathered together in Milan for their first official day on the job which was anchored by a full day orientation program on bringing the essence of Moxy to life. Vicki Poulos, Global Brand Director led sessions that included guest engagement in social media, a Moxy inspired fashion show and in depth sessions on creating the Moxy Hotels experience.

Moxy Hotels will debut in just a few weeks, entering the market with a distinctive attitude and modern flair. Moxy Milan Malpensa Set to Open in September Followed by a Further Five Hotels in Europe by End of 2015

Moxy dining areaBerlin, Germany, March 3, 2014 Following the debut of Moxy Hotels this September at the Milan Malpensa Airport in Italy, Marriott International (NASDAQ: MAR) announced today that it plans to open five additional locations in key cities throughout Europe by 2015 including  Munich, Berlin, and Frankfurt in Germany, as well as Oslo, Norway.  Marriott International expects to sign a further 13 hotels in Europe by the end of 2014.  A fresh and innovative lifestyle hotel brand created especially for the millennial traveller which combines contemporary design and approachable service at a reasonable price, Moxy Hotels is projected to reach 150 hotels within the next ten years.

The following Moxy hotels are expected to open by 2015: 

- The 162-room MOXY Milan Malpensa Airport, conveniently located at Terminal Two and scheduled to open in September, 2014

- The 317-room MOXY Munich Airport, located approximately five minutes from the main terminal and scheduled to open in spring, 2015

- The 190-room MOXY Berlin Ostbahnhof, centrally located near Ostbahnhof train station and scheduled to open in spring, 2015

- The 305-room MOXY Frankfurt Gateway Gardens, located approximately five minutes from Frankfurt Airport and scheduled to open in summer, 2015

- The 266-room MOXY Berlin Airport, located at the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport and scheduled to open in autumn, 2015

BERLIN, Germany – 5 March, 2013 – At the Berlin International Hotel Investment Forum (IHIF), Marriott International (NYSE: MAR) will debut MOXY HOTELS (www.moxyhotels.com), its first entry into the economy tier, three-star hospitality segment in Europe.  Designed to capture the rapidly emerging millennial traveler, the new brand combines contemporary stylish design, approachable service and, most importantly, an affordable price.  The brand will debut in Italy, with the first MOXY HOTEL expected to open in Milan in early 2014. To grow the brand rapidly, Marriott is working closely with Inter Hospitality who will be the initial developer and owner of the first MOXY HOTELS properties.  Marriott has selected Nordic Hospitality to be its first franchisee to operate the brand.  Nordic Hospitality is an experienced hotel operator that currently manages several Marriott brand hotels in Scandinavia.

Marriott plans to add 150 franchised MOXY HOTELS in Europe over the next 10 years, aiming for locations in Germany, Austria, United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, Italy, The Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden.  The new brand will fuel Marriott’s companywide growth in the region, which is expected to reach 80,000 rooms by 2015.

MOXY HOTELS has been in development for nearly two years. Marriott, together with Nordic Hospitality, has conducted extensive consumer research across Europe including construction of sample rooms for focus group studies.

MOXY RoomThe contemporary and stylish 150- to 300-room MOXY HOTELS, which are being designed with the goal of attaining LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, will cater to today’s budget-minded, savvy travellers who thrive on self-service and embrace new technology.  Guestrooms will be functional and well-designed, with upscale bath amenities, large flat screen televisions and built-in USB ports located within each wall socket. The color palette features calming neutral tones reminiscent of rich brown leather, combined with natural materials to evoke an organic, comfortable and restorative feel. Each room will also feature a floor to ceiling signature “art wall” that is hand selected to reflect the local city or surroundings.
 
MOXY HOTELS will feature adaptable public spaces for guests to relax and socialize offering healthy continental breakfast and an evening bar featuring wines by the glass and local brews. In addition, hotels will have two “Plug and Meet” meeting spaces on the lobby level designed with modern ergonomic seating, large writing walls and 56-inch televisions for presentation projection. The lobby will boast state-of-the art computers and 24/7 market featuring snacks and drinks.

Guests will enjoy free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, and may opt to check in using their mobile devices.

MOXY HOTELS will also be part of Marriott Rewards, Marriott International’s award-winning global guest loyalty program with more than 40 million members worldwide.
