The Luxury Collection

Exceptional Destinations, Extraordinary Hotels: The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts offers the promise of unique, authentic experiences that evoke lasting, treasured memories. For the global explorer, The Luxury Collection offers a gateway to the world’s most exciting and desirable destinations. Each hotel and resort is a unique and cherished expression of its location; a portal to the destination’s indigenous charms and treasures. Magnificent décor, spectacular settings, impeccable service and the latest modern conveniences combine to provide a uniquely enriching experience.

A Distinguished Lineage: The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts traces its distinguished heritage to Compagnia Italiana Grandi Alberghi (CIGA), a company founded in 1906 as an Italian hotel owner/operator and listed on the Milan Stock Exchange in 1921. In 1985 Prince Karim Aga Khan acquired a controlling interest in CIGA and began to expand upon the company’s vast activities outside Italy, most notably with purchases in Spain and Austria. CIGA later expanded in geographic focus to include properties and real estate in Sardinia. Today, under the Starwood banner, The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts is a glittering ensemble of more than 100 of the world’s finest hotels and resorts in more than 30 countries.

Notable Pedigree, Modern Brilliance: Each hotel and resort of The Luxury Collection is noteworthy for its history, architecture, art, furnishings and amenities. Highlighting the rich culture of each property’s unique surroundings, The Luxury Collection seamlessly integrates local customs and location into the guest experience, while continuously exceeding guest expectation by offering unparalleled service, style and class in some of the most desired destinations in the world. The Hotel Danieli welcomes guests to a masterfully restored 14th century palace bejeweled with Murano glass chandeliers, ornately carved marble columns, and soaring ceilings clad with golden leaves. The Hotel Imperial in Vienna, Austria, built in 1863 as a residence for the Prince of Württemberg, features pristine marble, hand-carved statues, and spectacular crystal chandeliers. Guests can retreat to the Convento do Espinheiro in the historic city of Evora, Portugal, a former convent built in the fifteenth century, now a lavish hotel featuring a luxury spa, indulgent restaurant options and picturesque views of the Portuguese countryside

The Luxury Collection is not restricted to castles and palaces. Hotel Marqués De Riscal, which was designed by international architect Frank O. Gehry, lies nestled alongside a vineyard in the heart of the Rioja wine region in Spain. The Phoenician in Scottsdale, Arizona boasts one of the best golf courses in the United States, as well as a renowned spa, tennis complex, nine swimming pools and elegant venues for meetings and weddings. In Hawaii, the Royal Hawaiian Resort – also known as the Pink Palace – sits on powdery white sands, surrounded by lush landscape and the magnificent Diamond Head crater.

The Luxury Collection Restored Icons: Recently, The Luxury Collection unveiled the results of its meticulous restorations of several of Europe’s most historic and iconic hotel properties. Each one of these hotels is a central landmark in its destination, with immense local historical and social importance. Leading experts, craftsmen and designers ensured that these local treasures shine once again. The Luxury Collection presented the restoration of the legendary Alfonso XIII in historic Seville – the most eminent and charismatic hotel in southern Spain. Across the country, another iconic restoration was revealed in Spain’s culinary and film capital of San Sebastian – the hundred year old Belle Époque gem, Hotel Maria Cristina. A third restored icon re-opened its doors, in time for the 2014 Venice International Biennale of Contemporary Art – the magnificent Gritti Palace, located on Venice’s Grand Canal. In Paris, the Luxury Collection unveiled the restored Art Deco treasure the Prince de Galles – enchanting guests since 1928 with intimate and personalized luxury on the Avenue George V. The Austrian capital saw the debut of restored suites and public spaces at Hotel Bristol, as well as Hotel Imperial which was brought back to its original grandeur with a complete restoration of the public spaces, bar and restaurant. More recently, in 2015, both the iconic Palace Hotel in San Francisco and landmark St. Anthony hotel in San Antonio were revealed after all encompassing, multi-million dollar renovations.
