Renaissance Cincinnati Downtown Hotel Debuts in Historic Bartlett Building

Renaissance Cincinnati Downtown Hotel ceilingBuilt in 1901 and designed by famed Chicago architect Daniel Burnham, the 18-story Bartlett Building was once both the city of Cincinnati and the state of Ohio’s tallest building. Also known as the Union Trust Building, the structure is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It had been vacant since 2010 before its restoration to the new hotel.

Renaissance Hotels Presents Summer of Music with Thomas Dybdahl and Lucy Rose

London, United Kingdom– June 13, 2014Renaissance Hotels presents a summer schedule of live music from several vibrant European city locations over the coming months.  From sun-drenched rooftops to city gardens and historic lobbies, some of the hotels’ most inspiring spaces will host a line-up of exciting artists including Thomas Dybdahl and Lucy Rose.

Offering a rare opportunity to see international artists perform in intimate settings, the one-off events are designed to inspire memorable travel Lucy Roseexperiences such as listening to Thomas Dybdahl from the seclusion of the city garden at Renaissance Paris Le Parc Trocadero, or watching Lucy Rose in the enchanting Koepelkerk, a unique 17th century domed church at the Renaissance Amsterdam.  The performances, representing an ongoing programme of music events in Europe, are free to attend but places are limited and available on a first come, first served basis.

Kicking off the summer schedule is Thomas Dybdahl, a hugely popular Norwegian artist famous for his bluesy folk music and often compared to the likes of Jeff Buckley and Nick Drake.  Thomas has achieved an impressive five multi-platinum albums, four Number 1 albums, two coveted Norwegian Grammys and international acclaim:

Thomas is performing two exclusive shows in Paris on 26 June:

Renaissance Hotels Debuts in Belarus

Renaissance Hotels Set to Expand Global Footprint

New Locations in Santiago and Paris Debut as Brand Remains on Track to Open Nine Hotels in 2014

With six hotels launched and three additional locations on schedule to open, the portfolio will include 162 hotels in 37 countries by year end. Each new hotel will also offer Renaissance Hotels’ signature programming, including Navigator and LIVE at Renaissance, especially developed to help make every business trip an opportunity to discover. In the first half of this year, Renaissance Hotels has introduced the following new hotels to its portfolio, including:

Renaissance-Aix-en-ProvenceRenaissance Aix-en-Provence Hotel (France): Opened in January in the heart of Provence, this new 133-room boutique five-star hotel features contemporary design with a stunning Provençal garden and more than 400 paintings and sculptures generated exclusively for the hotel.  Chef Jean-Marc Banzo offers an intimate culinary experiencer at the hotel’s signature Mediterranean restaurant, Le Clos, as well as more traditional fare at Le Comptior du Clos where guests may enjoy the sun drenched terrace offering stunning views of Provence.

Renaissance St Cloud LobbyRenaissance Paris Hippodrome de St. Cloud Hotel (France): Opening this month and located a stone's throw from Porte Maillot Parisian Congress Center and next to the exclusive Paris Country Club, this sophisticated new hotel features Anglo-Norman architecture complemented by modern and sophisticated décor and inspired by the Feng-Shui philosophy, designed by world famous architect Jean-Philippe Nuel. The newest addition to the Renaissance Hotels portfolio in Paris also features an elegant outdoor terrace and garden space for cocktails, celebrations and informal gatherings.  

Renaissance Denver Downtown City Center (U.S.)Renaissance Denver Downtown City Center (U.S.):  Opened in May, the 230-room hotel provides a uniquely modern experience in one of the city’s most historic buildings.  Taking over the Colorado National Bank building, one of Denver’s most iconic structures and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, celebrated Allen Tupper True murals add to the hotel’s stunning décor along with specially-curated and locally inspired original artwork. Range, an original concept restaurant and bar, will feature locally-purveyed cuisine inspired by the Rocky Mountain West. This urban landmark hotel will celebrate its official grand opening on June 26th as part of Renaissance Hotels Day of Discovery with a special appearance by DJ Cassidy.

Renaissance Santiago HotelRenaissance Santiago Hotel (Chile):  Welcoming guests since early April, the new Renaissance Hotel Santiago marks the brand’s third hotel to open in South America. The new property establishes a bold presence in the upscale neighborhood of Vitacura, surrounded by stylish boutiques and some of Santiago's finest restaurants. The interior design is centered by an open plan building filled with a series of spaces where the guests are inspired to discover around every corner. Renowned chef Mariano Cid de la Paz serves as executive chef of the hotel’s signature restaurant, Catae. In addition the hotel features several additional dining and entertainment venues include D-bar & Lounge, offering specialty cocktails, local beers and a large selection of Chilean wines and Kaitek Cafe Bar which includes a menu of 29 coffees and an exclusive tea list. This hotel will also celebrate its official opening with an exclusive event in honor of Renaissance Hotels Day of Discovery on June 26th.

Renaissance EdmontonRenaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel (Canada):  Enter this stylish hotel and find yourself immersed in a vibrant and open lobby space especially designed to host local entertainers and talent from around the globe as part of the hotel’s signature events program. Opened in mid-May and introducing a new generation of airport hotel, the arctic themed property features 213 soundproof and spacious guest rooms, including twelve executive suites and a presidential suite overlooking one of the Edmonton International Airport runways.   

Renaissance Hotels also celebrated the opening of the Renaissance Chengdu Hotel in China this past spring.  Additional locations are expected to open by year-end in Minsk, Belarus; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Beijing, China.

Renaissance Denver Downtown City Center Opens in Historic Colorado National Bank Building

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Colorado National Bank building was designed in 1915 by famed Denver architects William and Arthur Fisher. Originally erected as a four-story building on the corner of 17th and Champa Streets in downtown Denver, the area was then deemed the “Wall Street of the Rockies.” The building’s neo-classical, Greek revival architecture is highlighted through its towering white exterior columns and walls, created with marble from the Colorado Yule Marble Company, the same marble used to build the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. Large monogrammed bronze doors open to the three-story interior atrium, constructed with marble flooring, ornate bronze accents and the most secure vaults in existence at the time – details that remain as part of the hotel’s design experience.

Embracing the spirit of the building’s construction in the early 20th century, the hotel showcases various historic elements juxtaposed with sophisticated accommodations and stylish design. Sixteen murals, originally painted for the Colorado National Bank in 1925 by iconic western muralist Allen Tupper True, were restored in the hotel’s grand lobby. Denver-based NINE dot ARTS curated a collection of original modern artwork for the hotel, including several signature pieces designed to highlight and complement the historic murals, each from an emerging Colorado-based artist or local gallery. The hotel is also home to a history wall, showcasing a detailed explanation of the True murals, as well as artifacts, mementos, architectural imagery and photos from the bank’s storied past.

A complimentary interactive walking tour adds to the one-of-a-kind experience offered within the hotel, available via smartphone to guests and locals alike. The brief cultural tour of the hotel will provide users with information on everything from the artwork – both historic and modern – to the history of banking in Colorado and the related notable elements still viewable in the building. It will also offer information on the hotel’s unique culinary offerings including the cocktails and dishes available onsite that use local ingredients or spirits.

The hotel’s original restaurant concept, range, features “new American West” cuisine incorporating ingredients and techniques unique to the Rocky Mountain West. Techniques focus on grilling, smoking, wood oven roasting, cast iron sautéing, pickling and preserving. Ingredients will be largely local with a focus on all-natural grass-fed meats, wild game, sustainable seafood, local creamery cheeses, seasonal produce and more. The Teller Bar, located in the hotel’s lobby, and aptly named for the Bank tellers who once stood where the bar is now situated, will feature small bites, craft cocktails and local beers, includingCountinghouse, a Pre-Prohibition Style Cream Ale created specially for the property by Denver-based Former Future, a craft brewery that recreates historic beer recipes by combining them with cutting-edge techniques, to create delicious and unique brews. The brew, named for the bank that originally occupied the building, is only available at The Teller Bar, range and the brewer’s local Denver tap room.

Local Festival Discoveries

Also this year, expect to discover Renaissance Hotels at a number of high profile music and entertainment festivals including upcoming SXSW Music Film Interactive in Austin, Texas and DC Jazz Music Festival in Washington, D.C. among others.

In Austin, Renaissance hotels is partnering with Universal Music Group at SXSW Music Film Interactive to host their emerging artists showcase. On March 13th and 14th, festival goers and hotel guests can discover the best emerging talent attending this year’s event at the Palm Door on Sixth, while at the same time experiencing a vibe that only a city like Austin can offer. Up to ten artists are scheduled to perform each day during the showcase, including The 1975, Little Dragon, American Authors, The Kooks and Aloe Blacc.

In June, the Renaissance Dupont Circle Hotel, The Mayflower Renaissance Hotel and the Renaissance Washington D.C. Downtown Hotel will act as the official hotel sponsor of the 2014 DC Jazz Festival.
