3) 8AM – 6PM, Phone a Friend: Been weeks since you've called grandma? Out of touch with college buddies? Residence Inn is installing comfortable calling pods in a convenient locale, so you can find the time to connect with friends and family.

4) 12PM – 4PM, Make Time for Puppy Love: Pet-friendly Residence Inn will host an incredibly cute afternoon puppy party. Come for a cuddle to de-stress, or take the love a step further… North Shore Animal League America will be on-hand to arrange adoptions.

Video: Residence Inn by Marriott Opens Largest and Milestone Hotel in Chicago Downtown/Loop

CHIRL_Dawn_Vertical_Exterior_LaSalle_MadisonBethesda, Md., November 10, 2015 – Celebrating the brand’s 40th anniversary, Residence Inn by Marriott today opened its 700th hotel worldwide. The Residence Inn Chicago Downtown/Loop will be the largest hotel in the extended stay leader’s portfolio, a historic building located in the new distinctive hub in the center of Chi Town.  The property, located at the intersection of LaSalle Street and Madison Avenue, will be Residence Inn by Marriott’s urban flagship with 380 rooms and 7500 square feet of meeting space.

The architecturally significant building is a Chicago Landmark, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. Owned by an affiliate of The Prime Group, Inc., the property was extensively renovated to restore the historic building to its original splendor. Developed by the McCormick family in 1915 and adorned with remarkable, Portuguese Gothic Terracotta, the historic Roanoke Building boasts tall arches and ornamental columns designed by the prolific 19th century Chicago architectural firm Holabird and Roche. The renovation strives to elevate Chicago’s iconic history by incorporating these distinctive Portuguese-gothic style features in the revitalized property.

Residence Inn Debuts in the UAE

Residence Inn by Marriott Al JaddafMarriott International expands extended stay offering in the MEA region

Dubai, UAE, 21 October 2015: Marriott International, Inc. (NASDAQ:MAR) maintains the pace of its regional development plans by announcing the signing of Residence Inn by Marriott Al Jaddaf, a signing that marks a significant entry in the lead up to 2020 as it will be the hotel group’s first property from the Residence Inn brand portfolio in the UAE. Due to be completed in 2019, the Residence Inn by Marriott Al Jaddaf will be comprised of a total of 135 units.

The newly signed property is owned by Bahrain-based International Trading and Investment Company WLL (ITICO), an existing partner of Marriott International that currently owns two other properties – Residence Inn by Marriott Manama Juffair and Marriott Executive Apartments Manama.  ITICO has also recently signed its third property in Bahrain with Marriott International, Residence Inn by Marriott Manama Seef.

Commenting on the signing, Alex Kyriakidis, President and Managing Director, Middle East & Africa, Marriott International said: “This signing is a significant event for us as it represents the company’s first Residence Inn by Marriott property in the UAE and comes in response to a rapidly increasing demand in the market. Today it’s not only the executive traveller who seeks out an extended stay property, but also young families who are looking for a home-like environment where they can still experience the comfort and convenience that they would benefit from in a hotel, such as free Wi-Fi and hot breakfasts.”

The signing of the property comes shortly after the recent GCC sales mission where Marriott International reaffirmed their plans to add a further 79 properties and 16,415 rooms within the region by 2020, an expansion which includes an increase of the UAE footprint to 25 properties. The company’s amplified development plans have been defined in line with regional and global market trends. According to the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) a total of 13.2 million tourists visited Dubai in 2014, representing year-on-year growth of 8.2 percent and almost double the global average of 4.7 percent. In particular the extended market segment has seen a healthily increasing demand as occupancy hit record levels last year globally.

“Dubai is an ideal location for our first ever Residence Inn by Marriott in the UAE as it offers a convenient location with outstanding accessibility, both to the nearby international airport and to the surrounding Emirates. London, UK – December 12, 2014 – Marriott International (NASDAQ: MAR) and Aberdeen City Council have today signed an agreement to deliver a brand new Residence Inn by Marriott hotel on the new Marischal Square development in the centre of Aberdeen.  Work on the hotel, which is aimed at the extended-stay business and leisure markets, will begin in January 2015 and is expected to be completed by summer 2017. Download images.

The 126-room Residence Inn Aberdeen is part of the multi-million pound Marischal Square project which Aberdeen City Council is developing in partnership with urban regeneration and property specialist Muse Developments.  The hotel is the first Residence Inn by Marriott in the city and joins seven other Marriott International properties in Scotland including Courtyard by Marriott and Marriott hotels in the Dyce area of Aberdeen and a 107-room Residence Inn by Marriott hotel in the centre of Edinburgh.

Residence Inn by Marriott hotels are designed to meet the needs of extended-stay guests (five nights or more) and the new Marischal Square hotel will comprise 114 studios and 12 one bedroom suites – each with a fully equipped kitchen and separate areas for living and sleeping.   The expansive public areas will feature a Lounge Bar, Grab and Go Market, fitness centre and business centre.

Tim Walton, Vice President International Development, Marriott International, was in Aberdeen to view the hotel site and said that he was delighted to be in a position to add Aberdeen to the list of major European cities in which Residence Inn by Marriott has a presence.

Marischal Square, which is fully funded by Aviva Investors, will deliver a vibrant new mixed-use quarter for the city and include the new Residence Inn by Marriott hotel, Grade ‘A’ office space with associated car parking, retail, cafes, restaurants and civic space, along with public access, landscaping and public realm improvements around a site once dominated by the former Aberdeen City Council headquarters building St. Nicholas House.
