Alex Pyhan

Chief Transformation Officer

Alexander Pyhan is the Chief Transformation Officer at Marriott International, Inc. In this capacity, Mr. Pyhan leads the company’s digital and technology transformation, a multi-year effort that will transform how associates, customers, and owners experience Marriott, while unlocking new capabilities and fueling the company’s future growth. Marriott’s digital and technology transformation includes deploying a new technology ecosystem enabled by modern core cloud-enabled reservations, property management and loyalty systems.

Most recently, Mr. Pyhan served as Senior Vice President of Global Distribution. He has played an instrumental role in negotiating and delivering distribution agreements that have changed the trajectory for Marriott’s distribution strategy and its ability to drive customers to direct channels. Under Mr. Pyhan’s leadership, Marriott successfully negotiated a ground-breaking Wholesale Distribution Solution with Expedia, delivering significant value for hotel owners, and expanded the company’s distribution reach in China through our joint venture with Alibaba.

Mr. Pyhan joined the hospitality industry in 1991 when he worked in several city and airport hotels in Germany. In 2003, Mr. Pyhan joined the Global Sales Organization at Marriott International, where he was responsible for travel agency sales in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. He moved to Marriott Corporate Headquarters in 2006 to help manage Marriott’s distribution strategy. As the scope of Distribution grew over the years, so did Mr. Pyhan’s responsibilities, including building the inaugural distribution team outside the United States in 2009, with team members located in London and Singapore.

Mr. Pyhan is a native of Frankfurt, Germany and now resides in Washington, DC.
