‘Chufy’ Translates the Indigenous Destination Experiences of Peru Into Ready-to-Wear Line, CHUFY x The Luxury Collection: Peru
The Luxury Collection, a unique ensemble of more than 119 iconic luxury hotels, and New York-based art director and fashion consultant, Sofía Sanchez de Betak, a.k.a Chufy, today announce the launch of an exclusive capsule collection. Inspired by ancient Peruvian art and culture, the collection ranging from sashed wrap dresses to flamenco style sets is available worldwide. This marks the third collaborative fashion collection between the brands, following Japan in 2018 and the United Arab Emirates earlier last year.
The 67 piece ready-to-wear and swim collection is vibrant and print-heavy. CHUFY x The Luxury Collection: Peru is inspired by Chufy’s local experiences from navigating an Incan trail, her Machu Pichu climb, bike rides through tropical forests rich in colorful wildlife, as well as her own unique discoveries along the way. The design narrative of the line is influenced by the natural surroundings of The Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Tambo Del Inka, historic significance of Palacio Del Inka, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Cusco and ancient mysticism of the Andes prevalent at Luxury Collection Resort, Hotel Paracas.
“The Luxury Collection’s hotels and resorts are such unique expressions of their locale, and exploring this destination through the lens of their properties was eye-opening,” said Sofía Sanchez de Betak. “Peru is a country of ancient societies with many awe-inspiring and storied ruins, and The Luxury Collection is able to showcase the destination’s captivating contrast between jungle and city experiences. From the vibrant colors of the native art to geometric prints inspired by the architecture, this country and its culture has an exciting sense of modernity which I’ve tried to reflect in this range.”
“Much like The Luxury Collection, Sofía is passionate about exploring new destinations, sharing unforgettable indigenous experiences, and embracing perspectives that allow people to connect with travel and the world around them in a new way,” said Anthony Ingham, Global Brand Leader, The Luxury Collection. “This creative and deep understanding of what it means to be a world traveler and Sofia’s adventurous, effervescent spirit make her the ultimate partner to translate these experiences into tangible representations which can be worn and enjoyed every day”.
Priced from USD315, CHUFY x The Luxury Collection: Peru is exclusively available on Moda Operandi, Le Bon Marché, Bergdorf Goodman, The Webster, MatchesFashion, The Luxury Collection Store and Chufy.com. The collection includes an array of ready-to-wear separates, with sumptuous fabrics in a bright, vibrant color palette. Rich hues of warm oranges, pinks, and reds are mixed with golden embroidery and purples, inspired by Peru’s rich indigenous history. This exclusive collection comprises of floaty, lightweight dresses, skirts and tops in a design reflective of Sofia’s travels in Cusco, Valle Sagrado, Paracas and The Luxury Collection hotel’s that she stayed at along the way.
Notes to Editors:
Chufy’s itinerary with The Luxury Collection:
As part of her inspiration journey throughout Peru, Sofía experienced Tambo del Inka, Hotel Paracas and Palacio Del Inka – all Luxury Collection hotels and resorts. Palacio Del Inka is a five-centuries-old mansion located in the heart of Cusco, across from Koricancha, meaning "Temple of the Sun”. Here you'll find stone archways, authentic Hispanic art and ornate gilded antiques just minutes from the shops and museums in the main square. On the other end of the spectrum is Hotel Paracas, three hours south of Lima enclaved on the northern tip of the driest desert in the world. Facing the Paracas National Reserve, where natural beaches and a great variety of wildlife are preserved, the hotel offers world-class facilities, a private dock, the city’s only luxury spa, exquisite local and international cuisine and exciting experiences that will allow you to be in touch with nature and millenary pre-Inca cultures. An adventure to the Sacred Valley via a private train station brought Sofia to Tambo del Inka. The hotel serves as the perfect base to discover the unparalleled scenery, cultural wealth and hi-adrenaline adventure sports such as kayaking in the Piuray lagoon, take a horseback ride to the salt mines of Maras, mountain biking along the circular terraces of Moray, or canoeing on the Urubamba River. Time can be spent meeting global communities of skilled weavers, marveling at archaeological sites, exploring fields perfect for an outdoor picnic and of course, or making that once in a lifetime trip up to nearby Machu Picchu.
