Margaret M. McCarthy

Former Executive Vice President, CVS Healthcare Corporation

Margaret M. McCarthy is a senior information and technology professional with more than 30 years of experience helping consumer-facing organizations manage transformational change as well as privacy and cybersecurity issues.

Ms. McCarthy has served as executive vice president at CVS Healthcare Corporation, a pharmacy healthcare provider, since November 2018. Prior to CVS Healthcare’s acquisition of Aetna Inc. in November 2018, she led operations and technology for Aetna for eight years. She also served as Aetna’s chief information officer and vice president and head of business solutions delivery for the healthcare benefits company.

Previously, Ms. McCarthy was senior vice president of information technology at Cigna Corp. and served as Chief Information Officer at Catholic Health Initiatives and Franciscan Health System. Earlier in her career, she worked in technology consulting at Andersen Consulting (Accenture) and as a consulting partner at Ernst & Young.

Passionate about her field, Ms. McCarthy serves on the board of directors of Brighthouse Financial, Inc., and First American Financial Corporation. She also serves on various advisory boards and councils, including the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center, MIT Center for Information Systems Research and the Board of Trustees of Providence College.

Ms. McCarthy holds a master’s degree in public health, hospital administration from Yale University and a bachelor’s degree from Providence College. She served in the U.S. Navy Medical Services Corps as a lieutenant at Bethesda Naval Hospital and in the U.S. Navy Reserves as a lieutenant commander.
